FAQ’s

How to become a pool safety inspector will depend on your location. In Queensland, the 0660NAT Course in Swimming Pool Safety Inspections is required to become a pool safety inspector in Queensland. The course covers pool safety laws and pool fencing safety standards in Queensland and is approved by the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC).

After successfully completing the course, you can apply to become a licensed pool barrier safety inspector. With this qualification, you can apply to be recognised by the New South Wales Building Professionals Board to enable you to complete barrier safety inspections of regulated pools and spas in New South Wales. We deliver this training course in Brisbane.

The Pool Safety Inspectors Course (VBAISP2020) is required in Victoria to be registered in the class of Building Inspector (Pool Safety) and carry out the functions of a pool and spa inspector under the Building Act 1993 and Part 9A of the Building Regulations 2018. In addition, you need to conduct 10 live swimming pool and spa barrier inspections as part of the assessment before you can apply to the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) to get a pool safety inspector licence.

The course duration is three days. In Queensland, you can apply to become a licensed pool safety inspector after completing the course and passing the pool safety inspector test. According to the QBCC website, it can take six to eight weeks to process a licence application.

In Victoria, the course is three days. After completing the course, you will need to complete the Pool Safety Inspectors Course (VBAISP2020), conduct 10 live inspections, and apply with Victorian Building Authority (VBA).

As a licensed pool and spa safety barrier inspector, you can conduct safety barrier inspections, issue pool safety certificates, and report any non-compliances determined during an inspection. If you are already a building inspector, being licensed can expand the services you can deliver. If you are considering starting a pool and spa barrier safety inspection business, the licence is required, and the course is the first step for attaining the licence to inspect pools and spas for barrier safety compliance.

We are currently delivering the course in Brisbane only. Subscribe for updates about new course locations to be added.
